The seminar titled “General Field Research in Turkey: Challenges and Opportunities,” delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zübeyir Nişancı, a faculty member in the Department of Sociology at Marmara University and Director of the Institute of Population and Social Research, was held on April 17, 2026, at our university’s North Campus, C Block, 7th Floor Meeting Hall. The event, which started at 12:30, attracted strong interest from our faculty members and graduate students. The presentation comprehensively addressed the methodological framework of field research in Turkey, as well as the main challenges encountered and the opportunities in this field.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nişancı, who is also the coordinator of the Turkish General Social Survey (TGSS), shared valuable insights on large-scale data production processes and field applications. The event proceeded in an interactive manner with questions and contributions from participants, providing a productive platform for discussion for both academics and students.
