Erasmus

The Department of Economics at Istanbul Medeniyet University offer Erasmus exchange programs for both undergraduate and graduate students. At the undergraduate level, there are two different Erasmus programs – learning mobility and internship mobility. Within the scope of Erasmus learning mobility, our students can continue their education at the prestigious universities in Europe for 2-12 months (one semester is strangly suggested). Students are expected to take 60 ECTS credits for a full academic year and 30 ECTS credits for a single academic term.

Within the scope of Erasmus internship mobility, students may carry out internship activities in any business, research institute, laboratory or academic institution or organization. Examplary internship instituions are as follows:

  • Small, joint or large enterprises owned by a public or private sector
  • Local, regional or national public institutions
  • Embassies or consulates
  • All kinds of formations/unions associated with business such as chambers of commerce, tradesmen-crafts unions, stock markets and unions
  • Research institutes
  • School/institute/education center  (any educational institution from pre-school to high school, including vocational education or adult education)
  • Associations, non-profit institutions, NGOs
  • Institutions providing career planning, professional consultancy and information services
  • Higher education institutions

Students should apply for the Erasmus programs between January and March every year. Students should follow the application calendar announced by the International Office at Istanbul Medeniyet University. The application criteria for the Erasmus programd are GPA and foreign language score. Students who do not have a language score must take the Erasmus Foreign Language (English) Exam conducted by the IMU School of Foreign Languages. Applicants are ranked according to their GPAs and language scores, and students benefitting from the program with a grant are determined within the quota determined by the International Office. Although the quotas change from year to year, it should be noted that a limited number of students benefit from the grants. In addition, students on the list (announced by the International Office) can benefit from the Erasmus program without a grant – with their own financial means.
